1. Overview of ASpdb.Alternative splicing is an important cellular process in eukaryotes, altering pre-mRNA to yield multiple protein isoforms from a single gene. To enhance our understanding of the impact of alternative splicing events on protein structures, we developed Aspdb, an expansive database that integrates experimentally determined structures with AlphaFold 2 (AF2) predicted models for human alternative splicing isoforms. Our database includes more than 3,400 canonical isoforms, each with both experimentally determined and AF2 predicted structures, alongside over 7,400 alternative isoforms for which we have generated AF2 predicted structures. ASpdb provides information on the alternative splicing events in human, including protein isoform 3D structure data, sequence variation, structural attributes, functional annotations, and comparative analyses of structural alterations among the isoforms, providing insights into their potential biological impacts. ASpdb emerges as a crucial resource for the scientific community, facilitating advances in the fields of alternative splicing, structural biology, and disease research. |
